Apartment hunting...

Well, my boyfriend and I, after two years in our relationship, have decided to move in together. All the while we've been going out I've felt like I've been living out of a bag. When I need something it's usually at the other apartment which is frustrating, especially at 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning when I realize that I've run out of medication and have to trail home to get it...!

Anyway, it's quite a trial to find an apartment in Toronto I've decided! You could waste a lifetime sifting through all the apartments that are available (and most of them are either overpriced or dirty). Luckily, we have a budget and a (pretty much) set area that we are looking at. It's fun to buy second hand bowls and plates from Value Village and Goodwill -- to think of the stuff that people throw out! My boyfriend has a message board that he frequents where people sell household things like microwaves, rice cookers, etc. The other week we got a fantastic microwave for $20.00 and a rice cooker for $30.00! They are both basically brand new. Several months ago I bought a brand name VCR for $70.00 as the person was leaving the country and had to get rid of it quickly through the message board. All we need now is pots and pans and a kitchen table... we're trying to find a cheap 1950's style kitchen table and matching vinyl chairs at Kensington Market or at an antique shop, but I'm losing hope that that will happen. Several months ago there was a beautiful, authentic red 1950's chrome table with matching red vinyl chairs for $299.00 but we had nowhere to put it. When we went back, it had been purchased... Ah well.

Only one more week of work, one week of vacation and then school starts! I can't wait!!
